Eric Chan
Hi! My name is Eric, and I was born and raised in Missouri City, Texas. From a young age, I was exposed to aviation and aerospace through my parents, who would take me to NASA (JSC) as well as on airplane trips to Hong Kong (I still vividly remember my first glimpse of a Boeing 747!). College took me to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where I majored in Chemistry and Earth and Planetary Sciences.
During my gap year, I worked with an AmeriCorps organization known as College Forward in which I mentored high school juniors and seniors in college preparation. It was also during this time that I started flying lessons and obtained my private pilot’s license.
The skies had a lasting impact on me, and I went into medical school with a passion for combining the art of flight and medicine. I discovered my passion for practicing in medically austere environments, Whether that be caring for patients on the rural front to caring for explorers on the edge of space, I hope to use the power of flight to transform the lives of patients, and I hope to use my capabilities to push the paradigm of what medicine is capable of.
I love anything cardio including running, biking, swimming, hiking, and much more! I’m excited about what Alaska has to offer and can’t wait to explore The Last Frontier!
