Amelia Winczura, MD
My name is Amy (she/her) and I was born and raised in the great state of Alaska. I started gymnastics at the age of 5, compete for Arctic Gymnastics Center, and was fortunate enough to have received an athletic scholarship to attend Texas Woman’s University where I became a national champion on the Vault. Here I received a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science and a minor in nutrition, and a Bachelor’s of Science in biology.
I then attended Liberty University where I received a Masters in Public Health degree with an emphasis in health promotion. I am a strong advocate for health promotion and more importantly health education, empowering individuals to take preventative action in their health care.
I grew up in medicine with my father a physician assistant, mother a nurse practitioner, and sister a nurse and athletic trainer. I attended medical school at Saint James School of Medicine in Anguilla British West Indies and did a majority of my medical school rotations in McAllen Texas near the border. This was an incredible opportunity for me to immerse myself and experience different cultures.
I am so excited to be returning home to complete my residency and try to make a difference in the community that gave me so much growing up. I love exploring the outdoors and everything nature has to offer and can’t wait to get back to exploring Alaska’s vast land with my two cardigan welsh corgis; Callie and Riggs.
My passions in medicine include full spectrum family medicine care, rural medicine, health education and promotion, adolescent health, and women’s health.
