Ginny has served as a Behavioral Scientist at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency in Anchorage since July 2011. She is a licensed clinical psychologist who recently completed the Society for Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Behavioral Science Fellowship. Ginny graduated from the Joint UAF-UAA Clinical-Community Psychology Ph.D. Program. She completed her dissertation titled: Meeting the Needs of Breast Cancer Survivors in Alaska: Survivors’ and Healthcare Providers’ Perspectives. Her clinical interests include the relationship between psychology and health-related behaviors. She finds the challenge of identifying the link between the way people think, feel and behave and the impact it has on their physical well-being intriguing. She enjoys the challenge of attempting to improve health through psychosocial interventions. One of Ginny’s favorite aspects of her job is teaching residents behavioral health interventions to impact patient care. Her other favorite role is supervising clinical psychology students who work to deliver integrated behavioral health services within the residency’s primary care clinic. Ginny and her husband (both life-long Alaskans) enjoy spending time together doing outdoor activities and various home-improvement projects. She unwinds by reading, cooking, and watching funny movies (nothing too serious). In particular, Ginny has a love for her goldendoodle – Nellie – who keeps her and her husband entertained and often on their toes.
