Justin Carricaburu, DO

100_2932Justin was born in Dillingham, AK, and raised in the Mat-Su Valley. He attended University of Denver where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and graduated with honors. His honors thesis was in astrophysics, studying near earth astroids. He spent a couple years working in the biotech field and doing research on West Nile Virus. He attended Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2007. He did his internship and residency at our very own Alaska Family Medicine Residency, graduating in 2010, at which time he joined the Air Force as an active duty officer. In his time in the Air Force he worked both inpatient and outpatient and enjoyed a variety of duties including pain management osteopathic consultant, allergy extender, battlefield acupuncture consultant, and medical review officer. His time was mostly spent at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, but he was also deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, where he took care of war-wounded at the hospital. Additionally, he was tasked to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He is passionate about musculoskeletal medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, the healing ability of the human body, and the optimal human microbiome. He joined Alaska Family Medicine Residency part time in 2012 and full time in 2014, and he hopes to remain a vital team member over the coming years.
