Shawna was born and raised in the small African Kingdom of Swaziland where she first discovered her love of international travel and medicine. Over the years, her travels took her to San Diego, CA, where she delved into the study of Biology at Point Loma Nazarene University. Keeping in tune with the California vibes, she attended Western University of Health Sciences for medical school where she found fulfillment working with underserved populations. Upon graduation, she returned to her family’s home of Anchorage, Alaska, to pursue her residency in Family Medicine. Shawna finds balance exploring the mountains behind her home and traveling to far away places where she finds her inspiration for future medical endeavors. She plans to earn her diploma in tropical medicine and eventually return to work in Africa.
