Originally from Pocatello, a small town in southeast Idaho, Mark enjoyed mountain biking, hiking and alpine skiing among the area’s high desert mountains. He attended the University of Idaho in the picturesque Palouse Hills of northern Idaho and eastern Washington for his B.S. and M.S in Chemistry. During his years at the U of I, he fostered a desire to step out of the lab and position himself to directly serve a community and improve basic health. This led to medical school at the University of Nevada in Reno where he had the opportunity to serve in a student led free clinic and also travel to Central America and Africa where he experienced medicine in resource poor areas. He and his fiancé Kate are now enjoying the wild north of Alaska and taking advantage of the miles of bike trails in and around Anchorage.
