Originally born in Boston, MA, Charlie has continually moved westward throughout his life. He moved with his family to Colorado for high school, and continued further west to attend Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington. It was at Whitman that Charlie discovered his passion for community health through volunteering as a Spanish interpreter at a local free clinic. After college, Charlie continued to pursue this passion by working as a diabetes educator and community health outreach coordinator at Sea Mar Community Health Centers in Seattle, WA. Through this job, Charlie hosted a bi-weekly health education themed radio program on Seattle’s Spanish language AM radio station, El Rey 1360. He then attended medical school at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR, where he discovered his passion for full-spectrum family medicine. Outside of school, Charlie is an avid backcountry skier, mountaineer, road biker, and trail runner. He is incredibly excited to continue his westward march by moving to Anchorage, where a full spectrum residency training, independent learning philosophy, and world-class backcountry skiing await!
