Our Patients

Alaska Family Medicine Residency serves a patient panel representative of the diverse population in Anchorage. We provide over 30,000 patient visits each year. Providence Family Medicine Center serves as an essential safety net provider of health care in our community.

Anchorage has an international population made up of immigrants and refugees from all over the world. Over 100 languages are spoken in our local school district, and our patient population reflects that diversity. We serve patients from all across the world who speak many languages including: Arabic, Amharic, Armenian, Burmese, Cambodian, Cantonese, Farsi, Filipino, French, German, Hindi, Hmong, Japanese, Nepali, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Sudanese, Tagalog, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, Vietnamese, Urdu, Yupik, Inuit, and Athabascan, along with many others!

We manage both the acute and chronic care needs of newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and elders. We serve patients with private insurance, Medicaid,  and Medicare as well as the uninsured. Residents and faculty at AKFMR even provide regular medical care at our local homeless shelter, Brother Francis Shelter, to better meet the needs of our community.
